the cause was most likely a IP ban gone wrong

At this moment I think that not only the server is offline, bit alsof huge parts of Minecraft.net
Notch mentioned in a tweet that 1.8 is out, but the site was not completely working.
Offtopic: So that's too bad, cuz I had to make Slim explode for a rude comment Razz

Again offtopic: Fans of my vengence should not be too disappointed: he will be blown up later Wink
